We ditch the whole scene and end up dreaming

Two photo shoots in the same week! I was so excited to get the chance to take photos of Kasey, and on her birthday too! I'm thinking this should be a yearly thing that everyone does. Why do we only take professional photos when we graduate high school, get engaged, married or for Christmas cards? That should defiantly change :)

Location wise, this is the same wooded river area that I took Rachel's photos from the shoot before. I love this location and think it would be a great place for a small family shoot.

Technically I was disappointed to see that I over exposed Kasey's face in a few frames after getting my photos up on the computer. :( Thats something I really need to watch out for while I'm out shooting.

I'm free to be the greatest, I'm alive.

In a last minute decision my husband and I decided to head up to Thunder Bay for Halloween. I knew I had to set up a photo shoot with my sister in-law to try out a new look in shooting and editing. I am in love with the popular grainy film look every one is doing right now.

My theme for the shoot was sort of a wanderlust bohemian hipster feel. I think Rachel was perfect and did a great job styling for it. The location was a wooded area with a cute little river. The weather was cloudy which was perfect for our moody grunge look.

Technically speaking, I love shooting almost under exposed. It's such a dramatic look. When post editing, although I love the grainy film look, I have a hard time manipulating it as far as I've seen others do. Sometimes its hard to cross over from a more realistic edit to an artistic one.

Loved this shoot, and am very excited to be posting another very similar one soon!

I'm leaving on a Jet Plane

Well it's been awhile since I've done a shoot and this was a great one to get back into it. I was lucky enough to be in town to take pictures of the P family before their oldest daughter left on a year and half long mission for the LDS Church the next week. Maybe I should become a missionary photographer seeing as this was my second missionary photo shoot! I should probably move to Utah... :)

Anyways, this was a great shoot that took place at the tree farm. I especially enjoyed using the loading docks which were a perfect soft yellow color. I also loved how naturally happy this family was! They made posing look genuine... and easy for me.

On the technical side, I started using Adobe Lightroom a couple weeks before this shoot and this was the first full batch of photos I got a chance to edit with it. I love Lightroom with all my heart. Period. Also I used Pixieset to share the photos with my clients. It's the perfect photo sharing site for photographers and I will definitely continue to use it.

So here are the photos! I loved so many of them that I had a hard time deciding which ones not to included, hence there are quite a few :)
